The inter-School competition

On the 2^nd June 2022 was the day when the Mighty Mansa-Colley Bojang Lower Basic School organized an interesting spellings and debate competition among schools in and out of Brikama. It was indeed an amazing day that allowed the students to show case their talent in their various ways for entertainment and as well to educate some aspects of their various cultures to others.

The occasion started with a warm welcoming song and dance initially from the pupils of Mansa- Colley where they welcomed the guests in English Language and other prominent local Languages like the Mandinka, Wollof, Fula and the like. This was done with great smiles all over their faces and as well dancing to the best of their ability with the aim of making their guests as comfortable as possible. They then gave chance to other schools who also made the event very colourful through entertaining the gathering.

After all the entertainment, the actual program started where different contestants for the various schools were called on stage and to appear and give their various points of views about the topic given to them for the debate. They gave very fascinating views on their debating topic which says “mobile phones do more harm than good in our educational system.” The debate went on in progress and the judges did justice by allocating points that each students’ presentation earned them.

Next was the spelling bee competition, and as usual the competition was really very tight but then in every competition there must be a winner and hence the school that deserve the winning position for this competition where recognized due to the greater effort and accuracy as that was the only way they could earn the position since it was conducted without fear or favour,

Finally! I know you must be eager to know the great souls that have won each of the competitions but do not worry because I have got everything just for you. The school that emerged victorious in the debate competition was none other than Brikama Nema and the student that earn them this position goes by the name Ramatoulie Cham. Amazingly! the second best debater is also from the same school and this is none other person than Fatoumata Darboe. The third best debater goes by the name Foday Sanyang from Emma Christine. These pupils really dazzled everyone with their great points of view that were articulated in the best possible manner and hence they deserve their various positions.

Now on to the best spellers! The first best speller was Isatou Demba from Mansa– Colley Bojang Lower Basic School and the second best is Mariama Faye from the same school. These pupils were truly on fire not allowing any word to pass them just like that.
