Mansa-Colley Bojang School, The Gambia
On the 20th November 2010, the foundation stone for the construction of a new Nursery School in Jalambang Village was laid.
The school opened in 2011, with three classrooms and a sanitary unit. It soon became apparent that the need for more classrooms were needed.
Mucki travelled to England to spend time in schools and colleges teaching students about The Gambia and encouraging educational trips to help raise awareness and support for the school.
Over the years with continued support from our sponsors, the school has expanded to include various things like a canteen, a nursery building the newly established senior school. This page shows all about our projects, when they were established and the support that was provided.
Lower Basic School
Established 2010
On the 20th November 2010, the foundation stone for the Lower Basic School was laid, with support from Mucki’s Dutch friends and the Rotary Maassluis.
With support from Gambia Next Level, during 2022 the Lower Basic School was expanded with two additional classroom blocks and sanitary units, construction is still in progress and is expected to be completed soon.
Secondary School
Established 2020
Sponsored by The Rotary Club of Ely Hereward, The Rotary Club of Massluis and The Rotary Club of Thorpe Bay and with the aid of a grant from The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International and the support from The Rotary Club of Fajara, the Secondary School was established.
Senior School
Established 2021
Supported by Alfa Accountants and Advisors, construction of the new Senior School started in 2021 and opened to students in the 2022 academic year. Providing access to education for students to become doctors, nurses, engineers along with general studies which is the combination of business, law and journalism.
Chicken Poultry Project
Established 2016
Sponsored by Ely Hereward Rotary Club, Mansa-Colley was equipped with a chicken house for egg production and 500 one day old chickens, essential medicines and sufficient feed for the first year. Within fix months the chickens were producing 400 eggs a day, making Mansa-Colley the fifth largest producer of eggs in The Gambia and providing an income of £10 per day for the school.
Water Supply
Established 2012
Water was initially provided at the school from a well which continues to be used, during 2013 a borehole was installed with support from David Penk with a generator to pump water from the ground with support from Alison and Frank Boatha. In 2014 the generator was replaced with solar panels. The borehole pump was later replaced with support from Danny Bisby in 2016 as the previous pump had failed. The water supply provides clean drinking water to nearly 1500 people in four surrounding villages including the students at the school.
